Taking care of your Kin cake

Collection

  • Please ensure when collecting your cake that you know exactly what flavour, decoration and size you have ordered.
  • If you send someone else to collect your cake they must state the full name of the person who ordered it and must know the flavour and size of the cake that was ordered.

Transportation

  • When carrying your cake make sure you support the bottom of the cake box and avoid pressing the sides of the box in as this could damage the icing and decoration.
  • Keep the cake flat and level at all times. Do not put it on a car seat as they are always slightly slanted and this could result in your cake layers sliding! The foot well or boot of the car is best for keeping the cake flat.
  • The car should be kept cool while transporting your cake and you should take care whilst driving not to take corners too fast.

Storage

  • In warm temperatures buttercream and mascarpone cream icing is very soft so refrigerating your cake is recommended, especially in the summer months.
  • Always get your cake out of the fridge at least 30 mins before serving.
  • In cooler temperatures we recommend you keep your cake somewhere cool and out of direct sunlight.
  • Once the cake has been cut, storing it in an airtight container or covering with cling film is recommended to avoid the cake drying out.
  • All cakes, especially those with fresh fruit and flowers should ideally be ordered on the day they are to be eaten.
